Durham Town Board passes preliminary budget

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail the preliminary 2013 budget for Durham, approved by the Town Board Tues., Oct. 16, reflects a reduction in expenses and taxes from the current year, with few major changes. Total budget decreased by less than one percent, while the tax levy will be reduced by four percent. The tax levy reduction was due to a significant savings that resulted from a change in the town's health insurance provider. The reduction in cost did not involve a reduction in benefits.
