Working Families now supporting Cuomo

Rachel Silberstein is reporting for Capitol Confidential the Working Families Party decided October 4, during a meeting held in Manhattan, to drop Cynthia Nixon as its candidate for governor. The party will now throw its support behind Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. Cuomo and Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul must accept the party’s support by the end of the week, or Nixon and lieutenant governor hopeful Jumaane Williams could stay on the ballot. Following the defeat of Nixon and Williams in the Democratic primary, Working Families began exploring other options for its ticket. Party official Karen Scharff told committee members that Nixon and Williams preferred not to run in November. Read the full story in the Times Union.
