Sheriff's Sgt. Hofstetter honored by supervisors

Jeanette Wolfberg is reporting in the Columbia Paper Sergeant Richard Hofstetter is retiring after 41 years of service with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Hofstetter received recognition for his service at the Columbia County Board of Supervisors meeting this month. Speakers said Hofstetter was born in the county, graduated from Hudson High School in 1965, attended Siena College, obtained a degree in accounting and served in the army from 1967 to 1970. His career with county law enforcement included teaching firearms use, teaching public safety and working with architects to assure the county courthouse met public safety needs. Sheriff David Bartlett said of Hofstetter, “He taught me how to be a police officer. He was our training instructor for years.” Read the full story in the Columbia Paper.
