Per Earthsky.orgm, the 2011 Geminid meteor shower is early Wed. Dec. 14 and Thu. Dec. 15, best seen between midnight and 2 a.m. with the big and bright waning gibbous moon. You may see as many as 40 meteors per hour, according to Bill Cooke of the NASA Meteoroid Environment Office.
