Casey Seiler reports in Capitol Confidential that New York's Start-Up NY program created just 332 jobs in 2015, according to a report released late on a holiday weekend Friday, July 1 by the Empire State Development Corp. Sustainable Waste Power Systems, Inc. in Ulster County added 39 jobs, and Hudson Valley Fish Farm added 29, but no other companies in Greene, Columbia, Ulster, Dutchess, Delaware or Schoharie counties did. The story says the program is one of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s most highly touted initiatives. The Empire State Development Corp continued with its rosy predictions July 1, saying the “current phase-in schedule for the more than 4,100 net new jobs committed by businesses participating in the program,” including 1,128 “net new jobs” in 2016 and 1,932 in 2017. Previous predictions by the group, though, have not proven true. Read the full story in Capitol Confidential, a Times-Union blog.
