Ground broken for new Greene Co. YMCA

Kyle Adams is reporting in The Daily Mail after more than eight years of planning and fundraising, the Greene County YMCA is officially under construction. The Capital District YMCA announced Mon., Oct. 14, ground has been broken for the new $3.5 million, 12,000-square-foot facility. It will be housed in a former video store located in Hope Plaza in West Coxsackie. The renovation and expansion of the building will be handled by Flach Development of Coxsackie. Work is expected to wrap up by June 2014 and the facility should open in the fall. The Y will include a multi-use gymnasium, a wellness center and a children's corner. It will not have a pool.
