Audrey Matott is reporting in The Daily Mail Jeff Baldwin was elected to the Cairo Hose Company Board of Commissioners, Tues., Dec. 9. He will replace Patricia Asaro, whose five-year term expires Dec. 31. Baldwin received 71 votes, while write-in candidate Greta Metzler received 59 votes. Metzler’s nominating petition was tossed out last week after the commissioners decided that because some signatures were listed with post office box addresses, rather than street addresses, she had failed to produce the requisite number of valid signatures. As a result, Metzler’s name did not appear on the ballot. Baldwin declined to comment following the election. Metzler expressed gratitude to her supporters and wished Baldwin a successful term.
