Step into Unicorn Bar Sunday June 8 for an evening of gothic folk & dark cabaret music featuring Charming Disaster (NYC) and Dust Bowl Faeries (Catskill) joined by Melora Creager (of Rasputina) on cello. Charming Disaster write playfully dark songs that tell stories about death, crime, myth, magic, science, and the occult. Dust Bowl Faeries perform a faerie-tale fusion of accordion-driven dark cabaret and gothic polka music, infused with a dose of witchcraft and a dusting of woodland magic.

Learn various Qigong sets and then work on a traditional Tai Chi Form – a set series of movements and postures – with instructor Curt Anthon, a member of the Yang Family Tai Chi Association. All are welcome!

You're welcome to join us for outdoor* yoga classes led by Pamela Martin and other local yoga teachers. Learn tips and tricks to avoid injury, and to help support the body during gardening and yard work. A stretch and strength class appropriate for multiple levels. Please bring a mat, water, sunscreen and bug spray. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

The Hudson River Watershed Alliance on Wednesday, June 11 at 6 PM hosts our annual WaveMaker Awards Benefit—an evening of celebration, connection, and inspiration at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY.

Enjoy live music by the Broken Heartstrings Trio, delicious appetizers, and a stunning deck view overlooking the waterfalls of Lattintown Creek.

The event features a panel and awards ceremony (6:45–7:45 PM) honoring this year’s Watershed WaveMakers: Beth Roessler (Hudson River Estuary Program), John Gebhards (Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance), Groundwork Hudson Valley, Kate Meierdiercks (Siena College). These incredible honorees are recognized for their leadership in restoration, education, and empowering communities to protect clean water.

Proceeds directly support the Alliance’s mission to unite and empower communities across the Hudson River watershed.

From a mountain vista, enjoy the sun set and then turn around and watch the full moon rise. Hike to Sunset Rock (for the sunset) and then Lookout Rock or Artist’s Rock (for the moonrise). The sun will set at 8:32 PM and the moon will rise at 9:31 PM. The hike will begin in the North South Lake eastern parking lot by the beach around 7 PM. Rain/Cloudy date is Thursday, July 10th (sunset 8:33 PM & moonrise 9:00 PM).

In collaboration with OutHudson, we are celebrating the library’s new and ongoing LGBTQ+ archive. This collection, much of it consisting of oral histories of local residents who identify as LGBTQ+, has been developed in the past year. The program, curated by Jasper Francis, features clips from the oral histories that have been recently completed. The library is looking for donations (or loans to digitize) of photographs, video, art, documents, ephemera, and memorabilia on Hudson’s vital queer history. All are welcome to attend, learn more, and engage as a community.

On FRIDAY, JUNE 13th at 6PM to celebrate Pride month we'll gather at CURIOUS magazine shop on Broadway in Midtown Kingston for a happy hour conversation and book signing with longtime book editor, journalist, activist, and artist Jay Blotcher about the history of the rainbow flag. Light refreshments will be served. Jay Blotcher is a veteran queer activist with ACT UP and Queer Nation, co-founder of the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, and co-author of the 2019 memoir Rainbow Warrior: My Life in Color by Gilbert Baker, creator of the Rainbow Flag. He sits on the board of the Gilbert Baker Foundation.

Carla Rhodes, a wildlife conservation photographer and moth enthusiast, will give a presentation all about moths: what mothing is, how to do it, why moths are important, and what moths you might see in your own backyard!

Carla will go over the basic mothing setup anyone can make with a simple sheet and light, as well as other alternatives for attracting and observing moths on your own. Carla will also show some of the phenomenal up-close photos she’s captured of moths in her own yard and discuss the variety of host plants these moths use throughout their life cycles. And she’ll, of course, talk about the importance of moths and why they’re just as beautiful as butterflies—if not more beautiful—and far more essential to global pollination.

Talk To Me - Wave Farm (2025-Ongoing) is an experiment in serendipitous social interaction, mutual aid, community building, and the power of strangers to alter the ground on which we stand. Built on the Talk To Me micro telephone network, each conversation is an opportunity for two strangers to touch each others lives, however briefly. When activated, the pond-facing phone will call out to every person in the Talk To Me - Wave Farm community, all at once. You will speak with the first person to answer the call.

Talk To Me NYC (2022) was a network of five payphones that only called each other, placed on streets, one in each of NYC’s five boroughs. This serendipitous interaction machine ran for a little over a year and a half and created thousands of interactions and hundreds of meaningful moments between strangers. Every day New Yorkers would pick up the phone, and others would answer the call. Confusion was common, connection less so, but each call represented a moment in time in which two people were held in brief proximity. The forest-facing phone features an edited compilation of the audio that resulted.

In its 68th year of bringing exceptional chamber music to New York's Hudson Valley, Clarion Concerts will wrap the 2024-2025 season with a concert on Saturday, 14 June 2025 at 3pm. The concert will feature GRAMMY®-nominated PUBLIQuartet, an ensemble that combines improvisation with composed music, traditional Western classical music, and influences of Africa, South America, blues, gospel and other genres. The concert and post-concert reception will take place in a historic 1799 barn at a private residence in Ancramdale, NY.

Olana is the most intact historic artist’s environment in the United States, encompassing the Main House, historic farm complex, and 250-acre landscape designed by Frederic Church. Despite its preservation, several structures from Church’s time were removed before Olana became a landmark. Their absence erased stories of those who built and used them. Foundations, archaeological evidence, photographs, maps, or oral histories remain. These buildings vanished, but their stories live in the landscape. For "What’s Missing?" The Olana Partnership commissioned Ellen Harvey and Gabriela Salazar to create site-specific artworks responding to these missing pieces of Olana’s landscape history.

The exhibition opening is on June 14th and will remain open up until November 2nd, 2025.

CREATE Council will be hosting award ceremonies to celebrate the wonderful artists and arts organizations in Greene, Columbia and Schoharie Counties! Attending an award ceremony is a great way to meet creatives and community members that are passionate about the arts. Award ceremonies are open to the public.
