This performance will feature Arthur Boyle’s “Angela Lives,” where a woman’s apartment takes on a life of its own; and Pamela Ryder’s “The Tintype of Billy the Kid,” where an itinerant tin typist makes his living taking portraits of the dead. The series is curated by Ashley Mayne, author of the novels Mankiller (2014), and Tiger (2015). For tickets and more information, visit www.ancramoperahouse.org. Content Warning: “The Tintype of Billy the Kid” contains themes and depictions of death, grief, childbirth complications, violence, and sensitive topics related to mortality. Online Zoom workshop. A big question often asked: how do I price my art? At the core of this question is another question: how does one place a monetary value on creativity? We will explore that question together in the context of ‘how the audience supports the present and future needs of the artist’. The session will begin with an open forum for attendees to share questions and experiences. Discussion exploring how to fund the future needs of the artist will follow. We will explore and evaluate needed financial resources in the context of ‘savings and investments’ for future needs. If you have any questions ahead of time, they will be forwarded to the instructor who will address them during the workshop. Bernard Murphy has served as a trustee and/or director of a number of non-profit organizations. He is a former trustee and past president of the Camphill Association of North America. He has served as a director of the Board of the Camphill Foundation from 1992 until 2010 where he also held the office of Board President and CEO between 2003 and 2010. Bernard was also a co-founder of the North American Council for Curative Education and Social Therapy. In addition, Bernard currently serves as a volunteer with three non-profit entities. This seminar is one of a series of professional development workshops that CREATE Council On The Arts is sponsoring in an effort to better support the needs and interests of artists in our community.
