Tonight's guest composer, Stephen Fandrich, presents "Polos" for piano. "Polos" is made of harmonies and gestures inspired by the concept of harmonic space. Stephen Fandrich is a piano soloist, improviser and composer as a member of the group Monktail Creative Music Concern, as well as a vocalist and overtone singer as a member of Gamelan Pacifica. He is also founder and director of the Seattle Harmonic Voices.

This show is culminating performance of the Lockport stop on the Subliminal History of New York State tour of the Route of Progress. Join us in celebrating Sing Sun Room coinciding with Tune(Out)))side 2007.

The inaugural work in the Wave Farm Sculpture Garden, Sing Sun ­ Room is an interactive sound sculpture and installation by artist Matt Bua. The project employs an existing mobile home located on the Wave Farm property and creates a custom addition or outgrowth, which functions as a gazebo space that harnesses various elements (wind, water, and solar) in order to transfer them into sound. Wind: Part of the structure wall will be built with embedded whistle technologies, which react to various amounts of wind. Sections of the walls may be opened and closed in order to control or ?play? thematic groupings such as Unison pitches and specific tones.  

Water/Rain: Water/Rain: By devising an acoustic system, which reacts to rain fall, the structure will have a precipitation-reactive voice.

Solar/Sun: The exterior of the structure will be outfitted with custom solar panels; the energy collected will be translated into sound. This technology is based on the solar inventions of Nikola Tesla, who is credited along with Guiglielmo Marconi as having invented radio.Other sounds will be made using experiments of Alessandro Volta, Michael Faraday and others. 

During the planning and construction process Bua will meet with a group of local teens interested in contemporary art and renewable energy practices. Through a series of workshops, the group will learn about individual expression while working collaboratively on visual and sound-based art.

Special guest Che Chen (of True Primes) will perform a DJ set this week on Radio Ruido's "Triangulation."
Che Chen is one half of the band, True Primes, as well as a solo performer who uses stringed instruments, winds, reeds, tape machines, synthesizers, film projections and generally whatever's handy in works heavily influenced by his interest in ritual and folk musics from around the world. True Primes, his duo with singer/percussionist, Rolyn Hu, has an album called We Have Won out on Locust, and Chen has an artist's book due out on the Phaserprone imprint this summer. He is also the editor of O Sirhan, O Sirhan , a private press zine devoted to the presentation of artist's archival materials ranging from musical scores and writings to photographs, drawings, films and videos. OSOS also features interviews and articles on artists and musicians that have so far included Henry Flynt, Jorge Boehringer, Bruce McClure, Mary Halvorson, Animal Collective, Devendra Banhart, Deerhoof, Edie Tsong, Sir Richard Bishop, Mark Gergis, and others. O Sirhan, O Sirhan #2 zine+DVD is due out in Fall of 2007.

"Sounds from Brooklyn's underground, physical music, and lo-fi antiquities." Shawn Onsgard performs live on free103point9 Online Radio during his AIRtime residency at Wave Farm.

Satellite is an electroacoustic/free improvisation trio that specializes in prepared instruments, extended techniques and intricate explorations of quiet noise that teeters on the verge of silence. Formed at Mills College in late 2005, the ensemble consists of Icelandic guitarist Steini Gunnarsson, violist Liz Meredith and Travis Johns on bass and electronics. With the assistance of an artist travel grant from the Icelandic government, the trio has convened in natural spaces within New York's Hudson Valley to produce a series of recordings that emphasize the acoustics and ambience of the spaces themselves as well as their own particular brand of musicianship.

Adrian McBride is interested in interactive multimedia and music. He works with analog modular and digital synthesizers, assorted acoustic and electric instruments, sensors, projectors, and computers. He enjoys going for walks, watching animals, and visiting mountains, oceans, and rivers.

Live video and audio stream from CCRT AIRtime residency at Wave Farm. Cross Current Resonance Transducer is LoVid: Tali Hinkis & Kyle Lapidus and Douglas Repetto. During their AIRtime residency, CCRT will focus on two projects: 1) Data Collection Devices An analysis of signals on the electromagnetic spectrum and telluric currents (signals in the earth) will inform CCRT's development of measurement device sculptures. These devices exist both as aesthetic objects and as functional monitoring mechanisms, which will enable data recordings used in future projects. 2) Bonding Energy A web-based project commissioned by turbulence.org, "Bonding Energy" is a model system for distributed microenergy generation. The system suggests new ways of thinking about renewable resources and to address global warming and climate change.

Workshops are broken down into three main sections: the history of broadcasting; how transmitters work: and transmission arts as a creative medium

Radio 4x4 is a collaborative radio transmission performance. Four simultaneous audio performances are separately sent through FM transmitters to radios positioned throughout a performance space. Each radio receives only one of the signals, so that the audience becomes an active collaborator in the performance, "mixing" the audio feeds by moving about the space among the four signals.

What sound turns you on? Blending performer and public, noted composer Pauline Oliveros will lead a World Wide Tuning Meditation, an interactive "sound-a-long" in which the audience becomes an instrument and those in attendance and in other parts of the world through free103point9's online radio transmission have their chance to make beautiful music together. Exhilarating and delightful, The Tuning Meditation is a unique sonic event for simultaneous voices participating worldwide and at Lincoln Center. Oliveros supplies the score, you supply your tone. For friends and family who participate in this event, you can visit the Deep Listening website to get a score and register in advance. Audiences members will also be treated to the EHRES (Extreme High Risk Entertainment System) featuring Oliveros in a quartet of performers -- Ione (spoken word/electronics), John D. S. Adams (modular electronics), Norman Adams (cello/electronics) and Oliveros (accordion/electronics) -- employing a groundbreaking system of acoustic and electronic interconnections for live performance. EHRES creates multilayered networks of connections allowing all sounds to be shared, processed and distributed to a multi-channel sound system.

free103point9 will coordinate eight radio signals from around the world beaming in their performances to be part of the show at Lincoln Center.
