Trump criticizes Cuomo, Gillibrand

Aug 14, 2018 11:55 am
Robert Harding reports in Auburn Publications that Donald Trump came to central New York Aug. 13 for the first time as president, and used the visit to criticized Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. At a $1,000-a-person fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney at the Hotel Utica lamented the Cuomo administration's 2014 ban on hydraulic fracturing in New York. "We had the potential to do it better than anybody," Trump said. "It's dissipated." Trump begged Cuomo to run against him in 2020. "Oh, please do it," Trump said. Cuomo responded, "You say you want to make this country great again, but you have clearly forgotten what made this country great in the first place.... Perhaps you can use this trip to New York to help you remember what truly makes this state and this nation great." Gillibrand's November Republican opponent Chele Farley was at the event. "I know your opponent very well," Trump said. "She's been up to my office looking for campaign contributions. And she's very aggressive on contributions, but she's not very aggressive on getting things done." Gillibrand tweeted after the speech, "The President refuses to acknowledge the work I've gotten done. Sound familiar, ladies?" Read the full story in Auburn Publications.
