Religious camp hears more complaints at Catskill Planning Board

Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that several residents turned out May 14 to the Catskill Planning Board meeting to complain about Pollace’s Family Vacation Resort, and they may be back for a public hearing June 11. This past March, Pollace’s announced it would sell the business, with a proposed new use. The engineer representing the religious camp, Darrin Elsom tried to put them at ease. “There will be no substantial increase in traffic because the children and counselors will be bused in,” he said. “There will not be an increase in ambient noise level because the property was operating as a resort. The camp will comply with the town’s noise ordinance.” But neighbors said Pollace’s Resort averaged between 80-100 guests during the eight-ten weeks of the summer season, while the camp has a proposed overnight occupancy of 214 guests.
