3 p.m.: Radio Theatre: Rip Van Winkle Washington Irving's story of a Catskills man who falls asleep in the mountains for a generation, and wakes up in a very different world. Told through songs by the David Bromberg Band, Al Jolson, and others. Plus, Brian Dewan tells the story from the porch of Rip Van WInkle Motor Lodge in Catskill, for Max Goldfarb's "Deep Cycle" project.
4 p.m.: WGXC Afternoon Show: Lydia Davis A conversation with author Lydia Davis about her work, and her new short story collection, "Can't and Won't" in advance of the reading Sun., Sept. 7, at the Chatham Bookstore. Davis is the author of one novel and six previous story collections, the most recent of which, “Varieties of Disturbance,” was a finalist for the National Book Award. She is the winner of the 2013 Man Booker International Prize. The interview was recorded at the WGXC Hudson studio, Tues., Aug. 5. Plus, news, weather, events, music and more.
