Scott Waldman reports in Politico New York about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's relationships with pipelines. Waldman's report says, "The Cuomo administration has delayed or shut down other proposed pipelines in recent months. In April, the administration rejected water permits for the Constitution pipeline, which would have brought natural gas from Pennsylvania through New York’s Southern Tier. The administration also recently called for a full environmental review of the proposed Pilgrim Pipeline, which would bring crude oil from Albany to New Jersey." At the same time, Waldman reports, the Cuomo administration, on the Algonquin Incremental Market pipeline, "has quietly softened its actions behind closed doors after a lobbying blitz," according to the Public Accountability Initiative, a nonprofit organization working for corporate and government accountability, partially funded by anti-fracking organizations. This pipeline would be a few dozen feet from the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Westchester County, and was approved by the state until the administration decided it was too risky in February and four state agencies asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to halt construction for an independent investigation. But others do not agree with the nonprofit group's account. The Public Accountability Initiative’s report is “a collection of wild and baseless claims without any attempt to gather actual facts,” said Kristen Devoe, a spokesman for the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
