Athens considers 9 p.m. curfew
Mar 15, 2015 12:02 am
The village of Athens is considering many changes in their town code, including a proposed curfew for anyone younger then 18. The proposed language: "It shall be unlawful for any person under 18 years of age to be or remain in or upon any public street, avenue, sidewalk, alley, lane or public place in the Village of Athens after the hour of 9 p.m. in the evening unless such person is accompanied by his parent, guardian or other person having the legal custody of such minor person, or unless the employment of such minor person makes it necessary to be upon such street, avenue, sidewalk, alley, lane or in such public place during the nighttime after such specified hour. The Village fire siren will be sounded 15 minutes before the hour of 9 p.m. as a warning.” The last line has a line struck through it in the proposal.
