Veterans Day observed

The Daily Freeman has a rundown of area events scheduled for Mon., Nov. 12, to be held in commemoration of the Veterans Day holiday.

Greene County


Palenville: The Palenville Fire Department and its Ladies’ Auxiliary will hold a ceremony starting at 11 a.m. today at the Veterans Memorial Monument, 717 state Route 32A. The ceremony will include the national anthem, an invocation, a wreath laying and the playing of taps. Light refreshments will follow.

Ulster County

Ellenville: The American Legion will hold a ceremony starting at 11 a.m. today at its post on U.S. Route 209.
Olive:
A service will be held starting at 11 a.m. today at the American Legion Hall on Mountain Road in the hamlet of Shokan.
Shawangunk:
A service will begin at 11 a.m. today at Wallkill Library Park.

Northern Dutchess

Hyde Park: A memorial ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 1303 will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at the Town Hall, 4383 U.S. Route 9. Former town Supervisor Tom Martino will be the keynote speaker. Also, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Home and Library on Route 9 will have free admission today.
Pine Plains:
A memorial service hosted by American Legion Post 426 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5519 will begin at 11 a.m. today at the clock tower on South Main Street (state Route 82). Iraqi War veteran and retired Air Force Master Sgt. Alisa Connley will be the keynote speaker.
Rhinebeck:
A service hosted by American Legion Post 429 will begin at 11 a.m. today in the Rhinebeck Cemetery at the corner of U.S. Route 9 and Mill Road.
