Ulster County Legislature takes its first censure vote Tuesday

Nov 19, 2019 12:43 am
Patricia R. Doxsey reports in the Daily Freeman that as impeachment hearings continue in Washington D.C., the Ulster County Legislature will vote for the first time on whether to censure one of its own members at a meeting Nov. 19. Legislators will consider censuring Hector Rodriguez, a Democrat from New Paltz, for behavior "unbecoming of the office of Ulster County legislator." The lawmaker allegedly behaved inappropriately toward women and used his government position to gain access to and favors from women. On Nov. 18 the Legislature's Laws and Rules Committee voted unanimously to send the resolution to the full Legislature. Rodriguez did not run for re-election and his current term ends Dec. 31, but he has said he will not resign. The legislature meets at 7 p.m. on the sixth floor of the County Office Building, 244 Fair St., in Kingston. Read more about this story in the Daily Freeman.
