NWS in Albany issues snow advisory for Tuesday

Dec 16, 2013 5:03 pm
The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for light to moderate snow in Greene, Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster and Rensselaer counties from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tues., Dec. 17. Accumulations of two to six inches, with higher amounts across the higher terrain of the Taconics and the eastern Catskills, are expected, with maximum snowfall rates of one-half to one inch per hour, possible. Light snow will develop and overspread the region early Tuesday morning. The snow will become steadier during the late morning hours and into the afternoon before ending late in the day. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
