William J. Kemble is reporting in the Daily Freeman the Greene County Industrial Development Agency wants to work with Peckham Materials to find uses for the former Holcim Cement property on Route 9W in Catskill. Agency Executive Director Rene VanSchaack said this week the site could be used to produce alternative forms of energy. VanSchaack specifically mentioned the use of biomass, made of plant-based materials. The amount of property available at the Holcim site could make it suitable for both Peckham Materials and an energy-generating plant, VanSchaack said. Peckham has purchased the quarry and frontage and the rights out to the Hudson River. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
