Faso says he's not with Republicans or Democrats on health care reform

Patricia R. Doxsey reports in The Daily Freeman that Jan. 18 U.S. Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) spoke to about 200 business and community leaders at the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s monthly breakfast meeting in Kingston with two dozen members of the group Citizen Action outside protesting Republican plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act. On Jan. 15 more than 100 people protested outside Faso’s Kingston office the GOP’s plan to repeal the health care law. At the breakfast Faso said he doesn’t support the “repeal and replace” plan currently touted by many Republicans. “I like reform,” he said, noting he wants to keep coverage for pre-existing conditions, and to allow children up to 26 years old to be covered by the parents’ health insurance. Faso would expand community health centers and create a “stop loss provision,” with states ensuring people with a life-threatening illness get coverage through “reinsurance” outside of their regular insurance plan.
