Also, nearly 29,000 inmates in California state prisons have refused meals protesting prison conditions and rules. The protest is centered on the state's aggressive solitary confinement practices, but has attracted support from many prisoners with their own demands for changes in prison conditions. An interview with Delores Canales, a mother of an inmate in solitary confinement at Pelican Bay Prison and Carol Strickman, an attorney with Legal Services for Prisoners With Children will be featured.
