Ulster County COVID case count soars

Paul Kirby reports in the Daily Freeman that COVID-19 cases are increasing rapidly in Ulster County, with 83 more cases reported Aug. 16. That brings total cases to 400. Ulster County peaked at 2,622 cases on Jan. 30. Right now, 3.3 percent of those tested have COVID-19 in Ulster County. Across the Hudson River in Dutchess County there were only nine new cases announced Aug. 16. Both counties need more people to be vaccinated. Ulster County is at 60.7 percent fully vaccinated, while Dutchess County is at 55.5 percent fully vaccinated. Read more about this story in the Daily Freeman.
