New York, local counties, add jobs

New York State’s unemployment rate declined from 6.6 to 6.4 percent in August 2014, with both Greene and Columbia counties adding about 100 jobs, according to state labor department figures. Statewide, 3,900 new jobs were added, according to preliminary figures released today by the New York State Department of Labor Sept. 18. The statewide unemployment rate is now at its lowest point since 2008. The Capital District to the north, and the Ulster and Dutchess areas to the south also saw new jobs counts rise.
