SUNY to go all remote after Thanksgiving

Morgan McKay is reporting for State of Politics SUNY students will not return to campus after Thanksgiving break, and Governor Andrew M. Cuomo is now asking private colleges to consider doing the same. All SUNY students will be tested before leaving for the Thanksgiving break and continue to learn remotely after that. The statewide COVID-19 infection rate has increased to 1.9 percent and upstate is doing worse than downstate, Cuomo said. Western New York’s positive infection rate is currently 2.8 percent; the Finger Lakes is at 2.6 percent; and Central New York is at 2.2 percent. Cuomo said he will speak with local officials this weekend in Erie, Monroe and Onondaga counties about targeted restrictions to deal with the rise in COVID-19 cases. The governor also announced there will be no fans allowed into Buffalo Bills games any time soon. "It would be reckless to open the stadium up to spectators," he said.
