No progress on Greenville cell service

Audrey Matott reports in The Greenville Pioneer that Greenville Town Supervisor Paul Macko has only contacted one of four cell phone companies he promised to ask about expanded service in the town. At the Aug. 21 town meeting Macko said Apollo Towers had not answered his emails, and he has not yet contacted Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint, or any other carriers. At the July town meeting, Greenville Code Enforcement Officer Mark Overbaugh said the town's lack of cell service was a public danger, and asked for an update on what was being done about the issue. The board did not make any other promises to Overbaugh to improve service. "There are a lot of people out here that are very dissatisfied with where we're at," he said.
