Lopez talks ethics reform; Albany sees little action
Jun 07, 2016 2:54 pm
While there continues to be little action on ethics reform in Albany with less than a week left in this year's legislative session, Rep. Pete Lopez (R-Schoharie) is at least talking reform. (Play this clip here, rather then reading the following quote.) “Today we called attention to more than $2.3 billion that is controlled by three people: Gov. Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan. The spending for economic development funds is completely discretionary, not merit-based, and that is unacceptable. This is part of the problem in Albany. We must challenge the unchecked manner in which our tax dollars are being spent. We cannot continue to govern in a manner consistent with a ‘to the victor goes the spoils’ attitude,” Lopez said.
