Northern Lights may be visible this weekend
Sep 13, 2014 8:40 am
The Northern Lights may be viewable this weekend as far south as Maryland, according to Space.com. Two waves of solar eruptions this week are hitting the Earth now, which could amplify the aurora displays, usually only seen in the far north. The coronal mass ejection on Sept. 8 reached Earth Sept. 11, with a second wave from a large solar flare on Sept. 10, due to arrive this weekend. The WGXC listening area may have the Northern Lights obscured by clouds Saturday night, as the forecast calls for a chance of rain. See space.com for more information.
