Nora Mishanec is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the union that represents the licensed practical nurses, certified medical assistants and other workers at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbia County, have posted a petition on Facebook alleging the nursing home could lose Medicaid funding if ongoing financial concerns are not addressed. “In my opinion, I believe we started the petition for one simple reason. It is that we needed some kind of stability at the nursing home, not only for the residents and the workers but also for the community. That was our main goal,” said AnnMarie Fran, a housekeeping employee at Livingston Hills and a member of 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. Over the weekend, the union posted the petition, “Save Livingston Hills Nursing Home” to its regional Facebook page, alleging the facility’s owners have ignored workers’ concerns over finances and stopped paying for benefits. Livingston Hills Administrator Christopher Roberts did not respond to calls for comment. Two residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at Livingston Hills as of April 24. Livingston Hills has received a one-star rating, the lowest federal rating given, according to the Long Term Care Community Coalition. Pine Haven and The Grand at Barnwell, both in Columbia County, were also listed as one-star nursing homes, as was Greene Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Catskill.
