Greenville hires new band director

Melanie Lekocevic is reporting for the Greenville Pioneer Greenville High School has a new band director. Beginning this fall, Andrew Lammly, a 2011 graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, will take the baton. "I would like to welcome Drew as a new member of our staff," principal Matthew Ward said. "He is a talented musician who will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our students and music department. We are excited for him to get started..." Lammly, the child of two retired Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk teachers, played the saxophone in high school. "When I got to high school Mr. Scott Andrews was my teacher there and under his direction I really took advantage of a lot of different opportunities in high school, outside of school and inside school," Lammly said. "I started to take a deep interest in music. Lammly went on to study at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and earned a master‘s in saxophone performance at Arizona State University. After acquiring his teaching certification he served as an interim band teacher in the Niskayuna school district. At Greenville, he said, he plans to teach the standard repertoire, but is looking to expand it. Lammly will teach both the concert and jazz bands. Read the full story in the Greenville Pioneer.
