The remnants of Hurricane Florence dropped one to three inches of rain over the WGXC listening area Sept. 18, with flash flood warnings in many parts of the Hudson Valley. The New York State Department of Transportation staged equipment in Cairo and other towns ahead of the storm to tackle flooding problems. The Hoosic River at Williamstown, Mass. rose to almost 10 feet above flood level after the storm passed, according to the National Weather Service in Albany, and the Chenango River got to 14 feet above flood stage near Binghamton.
