Route 66 bridge reopens early

Bill Williams is reporting for WCTW-FM the Route 66 bridge over Kline Kill Creek in Ghent has been reopened earlier than planned, and in time for the Columbia County Fair. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held August 23. The bridge is undergoing a major renovation, including the total replacement of the bridge deck and approach slabs, bearings and bridge rails, as well as minor steel and substructure repairs. The entire $1.4 million project is expected to be completed in the fall. The 179th Columbia County Fair will be held August 28 through Labor Day, September 2, at the Chatham Fairgrounds.
