Route 66 bridge work starts next week

Jun 21, 2019 3:15 pm
The state Department of Transportation announced June 21, construction is underway on the Route 66 bridge over Kline Kill Creek in Ghent. The project will include the total replacement of the bridge deck and approach slabs, bearings and bridge rails, as well as minor steel and substructure repairs. When completed, the $1.4 million project will provide "a smoother riding surface and will modernize the structure," according to the statement released by the DoT. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall. While the bridge deck is being replaced, Route 66 will be closed and an off-site, four-mile long detour will be in place from the end of June through August. The bridge is expected to reopen to vehicle traffic before the Columbia County Fair begins. Read the full press release at 985TheCat [dot] iheart [dot] com.
