May 10, 2017 12:03 am
Melanie Lekocevic in the Ravena News Herald reports that Coeymans in southern Albany Couty is getting some roads fixed from the state soon. All told, the state will spend $1.518 million to resurface roadways, and construct sidewalks in the town. The state will resurface the intersection of Routes 143 and 144, and put in a sidewalk connecting the two thoroughfares. “We will start with resurfacing just next to the Greene County line, come up James Drive up to Westerlo Street, and then work on the intersection of Routes 143 and 144, and then continue resurfacing up to the bridge,” Project Manager Michael Poelma with the state’s Department of Transportation told a crowd at the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk high school. “We will replace existing asphalt sidewalks with new concrete curbs and sidewalks, and all the ramps on Route 144 will be brought up to ADA [Americans with Disabilities Act] standards. Anywhere we resurface on Route 143, we will improve the grade. In some areas, there is supposed to be a flatter grade,” Poelma said. Read the full story in the Ravena News Herald.
