The eight body cameras for the 26 Hudson police officers get turned on

Amanda Purcell reports for Columbia-Greene Media that Hudson police strapped on their cameras Dec. 20 and began recording video of their actions. The Hudson police are the first public safety agency in Columbia County with body cameras. “This project started out as a demand from the public,” Police Chief L. Edward Moore said Dec. 19. “We listened to that, and we followed through. We also saw it as a law enforcement tool.” But Hudson only has eight of the $800 cameras, and 26 police officers. In September, the city attorney, Columbia County District Attorney’s office, the police union, and Moore came to an agreement on how the cameras would be used by officers.
