Geoff Herbert is reporting for Syracuse [dot] com court facilities in the state of New York will now allow people to use bathrooms based on their gender identity instead of their sex at birth. The New York Unified Court System confirmed the new rule took effect Feb. 25, following the adoption of GENDA, the Gender Identity Non-Discrimination Act. The law prohibits discrimination based on gender identity or expression, and allows transgender and non-binary people to use restrooms they identify with in all state, county and city court buildings in the state of New York. GENDA also bans gay conversion therapy, allows offenses regarding gender identity or expression to be treated as hate crimes, and makes it illegal to deny someone a job, housing, public accommodations or education based on gender expression or identity.
