Pete DeMola is reporting for the Times Union an Albany man has been charged in connection with a phone call that led to two Bethlehem-area schools being placed in lockout status the afternoon of Wed., Feb. 3. Police said Michael A. Litz Jr., 35, was charged with making a terroristic threat and aggravated harassment as a hate crime, both felonies. Litz was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation, police said. Litz was under probation and taken to the Albany County jail for allegedly violating the conditions of his probation, where he remained as of Thursday afternoon, according to jail officials. Just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday a call came into St. Thomas the Apostle School in Delmar from an unknown man who stated to the school employee, “All God’s children are going to pay — I tried to talk to your (profane language omitted) priest.” The man then hung up.
