Hate crimes fall in New York for second year

Nick Reisman reports for New York State of Politics that hate crimes reported in New York fell over the past two years, while anti-Semitic acts and anti-black hate crimes were more widespread. The Division of Criminal Justice Services logged a 36 percent increase in anti-black hate crimes incidents in 2017, while 42.8 percent of all incidents that year were anti-Semitic. But overall, hate crimes numbers have fallen in the state from 598 incidents in 2016, to 560 hate crime incidents in 2017, and 525 incidents in 2018.
