Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson building once intended to house the Marina Abramović Institute remains abandoned, six months after the performance artist announced her intention to sell the property. Weeds are growing outside the 20,000-square-foot building at 620 Columbia Street and Purcell's attempts to locate a real estate listing for the property proved futile. In October, Abramović announced in London that she had canceled the plan to open an interdisciplinary performance and education center in Hudson. She said with a price tag of $31 million, the project was cost prohibitive. According to county records, the building is still owned by Abramović LLC, and has the tentative full market value of just under $1.1 million. The building is one of more than 50 vacant commercial properties located in the city. A proposed local law, requiring all owners of vacant properties to register those properties with the city, is expected to be discussed by the Hudson Common Council at its June 11 meeting.
