Mayor's Office announces police chief's retirement

Joe Gentile reports in the Register Star Hudson Mayor William Hallenbeck Jr. Tues., Feb. 5, announced the retirement of Police Chief Ellis Richardson. “On behalf of the people of Hudson, I thank the chief for his service,” Police Commissioner Gary Graziano said in a statement released by the Mayor's Office. Hallenbeck described an appreciation for the chief’s unparalleled “level of professionalism.” Richardson was the first African American to head the HPD in its 225-year history. A 27-year veteran of the force, he served as a juvenile aid officer, a D.A.R.E. officer and HPD lieutenant. His retirement is effective within the next three weeks.
