City requesting proposals for JLE study
Feb 19, 2019 8:00 am
Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the city of Hudson will conduct a study to determine the feasibility of converting the former John L. Edwards Primary School into government offices. City officials requested proposals Feb. 13, from qualified firms to complete an adaptive reuse study for the building, located at 360 State Street in Hudson. Proposals must be submitted by the close of business March 12, and city officials will announce their choice on March 23. “We encourage consultants to look creatively at the entire property and to consider a wide range of options including, but not limited to, potential municipal use and to propose only options with realistic possibilities for implementation that would benefit the city and county economically,” according to the RFP. The Hudson City School District wants $4 million for the building, which measures more than 89,000 square feet, and was constructed in 1963. The RFP lists potential uses for the property, including: the relocation of all city offices into one building; the relocation of the youth center and the Hudson Development Corporation; and to provide rental space for local preschool services. There is also the possibility of the county renting space in the building, as well. Members of the city’s Common Council will be chosen to sit on an advisory committee to oversee the study's completion. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
