Ichabod Crane reports enrollment is down
Nov 15, 2020 5:45 am
Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Ichabod Crane Board of Education met in-person and online November 3. Superintendent Suzanne Guntlow reported that 65 of the students who in the fall requested all-remote instruction have now asked to attend class in-person, and 28 students have asked to switch to fully remote instruction. Guntlow also said that district enrollment overall has decreased since last year and is on the lower side of what was predicted in an enrollment study previously conducted by Ichabod Crane. She said the increase of homeschooled students living in the district — not to be confused with fully remote learning — is consistent with similar increases in other districts. And the board heard a presentation from the director of information technology, Paul Caputo. He reported all primary school students in need of an electronic device to work from home now have them. Caputo also said intrusion detection programs have shut down three attacks on the district’s computer system. “I feel confident in our system,” he told the board. Caputo also said they are putting funding in the budget next year for more Chromebook laptops. Read more in The Columbia Paper.
