The Greene County Independence Party was behind on their paperwork

Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that it took eight years for the Greene County Independence Party Committee to file paperwork from the election of 2011. They just filed their required paperwork March 29, after eight years without filing. Greene County sheriff candidate Diana Benoit, who is also seeking the Republican nomination, said she was prevented from seeking endorsement from the state Independence party because of the party's error. “The state Independence party did not believe there was an Independence Party in Greene County,” Benoit said. Benoit is running against Peter Kusminsky in a Republican party primary June 25. Greene County Independence Party Chairperson George Acker said, “We filed late this year in March due to the fact that I was in the hospital.
