Hamilton elected Hudson mayor; DeStefano Council president

Roger Hannigan Gilson is reporting in the Register-Star Tiffany Martin Hamilton has defeated William H. Hallenbeck Jr. to become the city of Hudson's first woman to be elected mayor. Following the counting of absentee ballots Wed., Nov. 18, Hamilton received 860 out of less than 1,700 votes cast, winning by 27 votes. In an email to the paper, Hamilton thanked voters. She said, "After a long campaign, I am eager to now shift into planning mode.  In the coming weeks, I will be reaching out to Mayor Hallenbeck and every department head to ensure a smooth transition," she said. Hallenbeck congratulated Hamilton on the win and thanked his family and friends who supported him while he served as mayor. In the Common Council President race, Claudia DeStefano won, receiving a total of 676 votes to opponent Tom DePietro's 564 and Victor Mendolia's 339.
