New Baltimore Highway Department under investigation

Jun 13, 2018 7:45 am
Richard Moody is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Greene County District Attorney and New Baltimore officials have confirmed the town Highway Department is under investigation for misconduct by the state Comptroller's Office. Longtime Highway Superintendent Denis Jordan resigned from his post, effective May 30. However, Town Supervisor Jeff Russo denied Jordan’s resignation was involuntary. “It is more like he retired,” Russo said. “I talked to him about his resignation and he said it was time. He served the town for 20-something years and is 62 years old, but he did not put his reason for leaving in writing. No one was forced to resign." New Baltimore voters will elect Jordan's replacement in November. Greene County District Attorney Joseph Stanzione said June 12, the state Comptroller’s Office is investigating complaints of possible misconduct within New Baltimore’s Highway Department. The investigation is targeted at a number of items including misconduct and possible misappropriation of money, but Stanzione refused to disclose details. The DA said a determination should be made in the coming weeks. “I am hoping to wrap this up soon,” Stanzione said. “This started a while back, but a determination should be made within the next couple of weeks.” Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
