EPA honors Ghent's Fran Martino

Karrie Allen in the Chatham Courier reports that environmental educator from Ghent Fran Martino recently honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with an Environmental Champion Award for achievements in protecting public health and the environment. Martino works with local school districts, leads canoe trips, and owns and operates River Haggie Outdoors. “These New Yorkers work tirelessly to protect human health and the environment, inspiring us all to strive for a more sustainable future,” Regional Administrator Judith A. Enck said in a press release. “To be included in the list of award recipients referred to as ‘environmental trailblazers’ … is truly an honor for me,” said Martino.
