It is the third anniversary of the insurrection at the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C. On January 6, 2021, a mob of supporters of then-U.S. president Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in an attempt to keep Trump in power after he lost the 2020 presidential election. Many arrests and sentences have come down related to the January 6, 2021 uprising. For example, Peter Schwartz, a Kentucky man with an existing criminal record, received a 14-year sentence for attacking police officers with pepper spray and a chair while he breached the Capitol that day. Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes was sentenced to 18 years in prison, after being found guilty on conspiracy charges for his role in the Capitol attack. Henry "Enrique" Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys, was sentenced to 22 years for his role in the Capitol insurrection. And, here in Albany, NY, it was not the right-wing extremists who were sentenced to prison time after a violent brawl broke out at the Stop The Steal protest, but an artist, independent journalist, and activist, Alex Stokes. He is serving a 20-year sentence for allegedly assaulting members of the Proud Boys. He claimed it was self-defense. This is an interview with Alex Stokes partner, Willo.
