Former Prattsville Town Justice killed in head-on collision

Mike Ryan reports in The Daily Mail long-time Prattsville Town Justice and former Greene County Legislature Clerk Donald Olson died Thurs., May 9, in a two-car, head-on collision on Route 23, three miles east of Windham. The accident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m., closing that section of Route 23 for more than four hours. Few details have been released by the Greene County Sheriff's Office. While no official confirmation is available, a black banner hung over the door of the Prattsville firehouse in memory of Olson, who was a member for almost 25 years. UPDATE (6:30 p.m.) -- In a statement released late this afternoon, the Greene County Sheriff's Office reported a preliminary investigation that included a crash scene reconstruction by the New York State Police, indicated the vehicle driven by the surviving driver crossed the center yellow lines and struck Olson's vehicle. The identity of that driver is not being released pending further investigation.
