The Town Board of the Town of Taghkanic, holds a public hearing at the Taghkanic Fire House, Old Route 82, Taghkanic, New York, for the purpose of considering the enactment of a local law titled: "Town of Taghkanic Court Clerk Residency Law" (Local Law 4 of 2012), which local law would modify the provisions of the residency requirement contained in '23 of the Town Law for the State of New York and '3(1) of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York, as it pertains to the office of Town Court Clerk, and to provide, in lieu of said requirement, that any person shall be eligible to be appointed to or hold the office of Town Court Clerk referred to in '23 of the Town Law and/or '3(1) of the Public Officers Law, if such person is a resident of Columbia County.
