Congressional protests continue locally

Congressional offices around the region continue to be flooded with protesters. On Feb. 13, about 80 people demonstrated outside the Glens Falls district office of U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-Willsboro) asking for the Congressperson to meet with constituents in a town hall forum. In Ithaca, six Catholic Worker members occupied Republican Congressman Tom Reed's office Feb. 13 asking Reed to denounce Donald Trump's policies. “We are demanding that Rep. Reed withdraw his support for President Trump’s racist and fear-mongering policies” said Leah Grady Sayvetz, an Ithaca Catholic Worker member, in a press release. "We’re here on Valentine's Day to tell our representative in Congress that we, his constituents, want to see policies guided by love, not fear.” Locally, John Faso (R-Kinderhook) has yet to hold a town hall meeting despite numerous requests and protests outside his offices in Kingston, Delhi, and Kinderhook.
