The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts and east central New York, including Columbia, Greene, Dutchess and Ulster counties, from 2 p.m. Mon., July 14 through late night, Tues., July 15. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across the region ahead of a cold front Monday afternoon through late Tuesday. The warm and very humid air mass will allow for these showers and thunderstorms to produce torrential downpours. Storm rainfall of two to three inches can be expected. Rainfall rates may exceed one inch per hour. Flash flood potential will increase throughout the area.

Today: Isolated showers between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Areas of fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny. High near 86. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Monday night, showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy. Low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
